Inside PR at Northmodern
For the fourth time, Northmodern presented a very unique selection of innovative design brands. We were once again proud to see so many of our brands that showcased their new products and beautiful stands at the fair this year.
We arrived early on Thursday at Northmodern. With huge excitement, we entred the fair and started the morning off slowly in the pressroom with a nice cup of coffee.
With caffeine and enthusiasm it was time to look around and be inspired by great design brands. Among the exhibits were Woud, Novel Cabinet Makers, Roomstore, StrikAholic and Lampefeber, who showcased their new products for the upcoming season. You could definitely see all of the hard work put into every single piece, and we were impressed with their streamline designs.
As the day went by, we were also able to attend a design debate. This year’s theme was about whether Copenhagen really has what it takes to become a design destination. It was so inspiring to hear Amy Woodroffe, from Kinfolk magazine, talk about Danish design on an outside perspective. The main points was that Danish design really has a strong identity, but we should think more proactive and be better at collaborating with other designers. ‘’Think more global and be more disruptive in our designs’’ - was the advise from Amy.
After an exciting first day we went straight to Novel Cabinet Makers event, ‘Indian Summer Celebration’, at Refshaleøen. Here the Danish design duo presented their new collection, APERTURE, to a cool mix of press, bloggers and stylists. The location was at Aamanns Køkken and we were served the most delicious Danish style ‘’Smørrebrød’’ with cool refreshing drinks. The evening went by with lounge music, which filled the room with a calming, urban atmosphere.
Friday at the fair was once again a busy day for us. During the day, we had the opportunity to mingle with large design brands as well as new upcoming design talents. We ended the day with a nice lunch in the sun and glasses of cold rosé to kick start the weekend.
This years Northmodern was a great success and we are already looking forward to May 2017.
